About This Blogger

I'm Sara, and at present, this is my favorite picture of myself.

See that red hair? It's not natural. You'll see my hair color vary in intensity as I re-dye and let it fade over the following weeks.

So, about me. I think I'll explain myself with the help of pictures, because that's easier and more aesthetically pleasing.

I have a swell husband named Craig. We met through what we'll call "a mutual friend" (such a long story) and had ourselves a Christmastime wedding in 2008.

This is my family: my mom, dad, self, and four younger brothers.

This is the rest of my family, the one I married into (minus the two additional nieces who have been born since our wedding).

Any discussion of me must make mention of my BFF, Chelsea. After several years of living together, attending school together, laughing and crying and making mocktails together, this chica and I have so many things in common that we've started referring to an imaginary person named SaraChelsea; she's defined by all of our shared experiences and personality traits. If you met SaraChelsea, you'd really like her. She has fantastic hair and is exceedingly well-read.

I graduated from Southern Utah University in 2009. While there, I studied Creative Writing with a healthy dose of Literature and Early Childhood Development. It was lovely. Being a perpetual student is my idea of perfection, but loans for graduate school are not, so for now, I'll be a student of the world and take advantage of my local library.

I have lived the VAST majority of my life in the state of Utah. My hometown is St. George (down there in the SW corner), though I was born and later went to school in Cedar City. Upon getting married, I moved to Provo to be with my husband, and that's where we've been ever since.

My one detour from Utah living came when I attended school in Portland, Oregon during 2007. This place is the best; I still browse Portland Craigslist for jobs and dwellings. With luck and effort, I'll get back there for good.

Tied for my favorite movie: "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "The Land Before Time" (only the first one - like any good person, I hate the sequels).

I get a seriously huge kick out of thrift shopping, and most (if not all) of my favorite clothes came into my life secondhand.

Now, for a few life dreams:

Find or develop the perfect cinnamon roll recipe.

Visit France and Switzerland (this trip is currently scheduled for September 2012-ish).

Become a mom. These little darlings are already spoken for (they're my nieces and nephew). I'm a total pregnancy/birth/parenting geek and spend an inordinate amount of time researching these topics, considering that I'm not a mom or mom-to-be at the moment.

Write a book - bonus points if someone will publish it. I most enjoy doing non-fiction.

Learn to play the guitar. I love me some campfire sing-alongs.

Become competent at playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, mostly for the sake of seeing that look of pride on my husband's face.

I hope that's a sufficient introduction. If you want to know anything else, you'll just have to ask. Contact me at: mme(dot)hanks(at)gmail(dot)com
