Let's check out all the rules I broke with today's outfit.
1. Don't wear springtime prints/colors in the winter. BROKEN!
2. Don't wear stripes and florals together. BROKEN!
3. Stay away from westernized-combat boots unless you're walking the Oregon Trail and actually need to wear them. (...that's a style rule, right?) BROKEN!
4. Don't look pregnant unless you are pregnant.
Thanks to my high-waisted flowy dress, this one is effectively BROKEN!
5. When wearing a dress, no rough-housing, horseplay, karate kicks, etc. Strive to maintain your ladylike demeanor and a respectable level of decorum.
Oh yeah. BROKEN!
7. Don't take pictures where people can easily see you, especially if those people are friends from church who will think you strange.
As evidenced by this picture of me rushing to turn off the camera, this rule is soundly, awkwardly BROKEN.
You are an outlaw. Breaking rules one after another and enjoying it! I've come to realize that confidence is all it takes to mix patterns. And you have that in spades! Rock it!

The only rule is, there are no rules! :)
ReplyDeletei'm glad you broke the rules- all of them! and i see you already started your 30 for 30...i'm still on the fence as to weather or not i should participate, but yay for you getting a head start!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I'm officially adding "You are an outlaw" to my list of the best compliments I've ever received. =)
ReplyDeleteWise words, Jan. Wise, wise words.
Thanks, Michelle! And I actually haven't "started"-started the 30x30, but I've got all my items picked out in preparation for February 1st. This will be my first time participating. It's definitely a big challenge! If you DO decide to join in, I'll definitely cheer you on. =)
