NINE Days of No-Pants

Sunday, January 16, 2011

As I sat in church today, I had the following thought process:

"I'm wearing skirts and dresses for a whole week - Saturday to Saturday."

"Wait ... Saturday to Saturday is eight days, not seven. Okay, so it's more than a week."

"WAIT ... the day after Saturday is Sunday, and I always wear a dress or skirt when it's Sunday. So, actually, this is a nine-day ordeal, not seven or eight."

"That's a lottta pantsless days."

Yellow striped umbrella: Downeast Outfitters, $10 (on sale)
Pink earrings: yard sale, $0.50
Black turtleneck: Charlotte Russe, $8 (three years ago)
Necklace: Kohl's, $3 (on sale)
Gray double-breasted jacket: Edge brand, $6 (thrifted at Deseret Industries in Provo, Utah)
Cream-colored skirt: unknown brand, $0.56 (thrifted at Junk In My Trunk in Spanish Fork, Utah)
Turquoise tights: TJ Maxx, $4 for two-pack
Black booties: Mudd brand from Kohl's, $15 (on sale)

Big earrings AND big necklace?! Woo, step back, wild child! I nearly never pair two pieces of jewelry that are this bold, but my mostly colorless outfit needed some pop, so away I went. I have to say, though: my conservative outfit, even with the addition of bright tights and jewelry, made me feel much older than my 23 years. Not necessarily in a bad way ... but not necessarily in a good way, either.

I'm thinking that I might shorten this skirt a few inches, so that it hits at the knee. Thoughts? Will it look better at its present length or in a slightly-altered state?

  2. Purely utilitarian, I assure you. =) But it's nice having something so delightfully bright on a cloudy, gray day.

  3. Dang, girl! That is a lot of pantless days! You can do it! :)

You look adorable! I love the pops of color in the necklace, earrings and umbrella! Oh and as for the skirt, I actually like it the way it is (I prefer longer skirts). However, I think it would look cute a few inches shorter as well. You can rock it either way!

  4. Thanks, Cassie! Maybe longer is the way to go ... but maybe not? I just can't decide! I'll experiment and see how it goes. But I'm glad you weighed in!
