I Need Your Help. Way Bad.

I'm going to level with y'all: I dyed my hair on Friday night, just meaning to refresh the same red that I've had since summertime, and it did not turn out the way I wanted. It's much darker than desired, and it's slightly patchy. Sooooo that's kind of taken the wind out of my sails in terms of taking daily pictures. I'll get over it.

But I have to ask: what's the best course of action when hair color doesn't quite work? Have you guys had any success with correcting botched dye jobs? TIPS WILL BE SERIOUSLY APPRECIATED.

  1. My only advice is to go to the professionals. Someone who's worked with color a lot will know how to correct it best. Good luck! Can't wait for you to start posting pictures again.

  2. I have messed up my own hair color more times than I can count. It sucks to hear, but getting it professionally fixed is the only thing that has ever worked for me. SOONER than later. I have definitely done more damage while trying to fix it, making thing more pricey when I finally cave to the pros. Good luck!

  4. I know it's beginning to sound like a broken record, but I have to agree with these ladies. You can do more damage on your own so it's probably a good idea to go to the pros, especially if your goal is to lighten it up. Good luck!

  5. Yikes, I guess I'm pretty cheap, if I do box color and it turns out too bright/dark - I try and fix it myself with a shampoo that's detergent based (original Head And Shoulders is a good one.) Three washes (or a couple more) and a good conditioner rinse as your hair will need some moisture after all the washing. The detergent shampoo pulls out the excess color. Don't use a "color safe" shampoo 'cause those are made to be gentle on hair color and maintain it.
However, after viewing your pics today your hair color IS AWESOME!!! Don't change a thing - it's bright and sassy! you're owning it!
